TRAFFIC AND PARKING

Entry to the Old City via Jaffa Gate will be closed to vehicular traffic between the hours of 20:00-24:00 (approximately).

  • Those arriving by private car are advised to make use of the Park N’ Ride Service or to park at the Mamilla and Karta Parking Lots (for a fee)
  • Ammunition Hill and Mt. Herzl Parking Lots - free parking and the use of the Light Rail (for a fee)
  • Teddy Stadium and Train Station Parking Lots:  Park and take the free shuttle to and from the Old City.
  • Hale’om Parking Lot:  There is free parking and a free shuttle to and from the Old City.  
  • Shuttles back to Teddy Stadium parking lot, the train station and Ha'leom parking lot will leave from the bus stops at the Zion Gate, Damascus Gate and entrance to the Karta parking lot, starting from 22:00.
  • Via the Light Rail:  Due to the expected congestion at the light rail stops, please purchase round-trip tickets in advance or charge your Rav Kav in advance.  The Light Rail will operate until 24:00.
  • Via other (paid) public transportation:  Bus lines 1, 2 and 3 will run at increased frequency. Bus lines 8 and 38 to the Old City will pick up and drop off passengers at the Mount Zion parking lot.
  • Route Line 83 to Maale HaZeitim: Ma'ale HaShalom (HaKalbia Junction), the Dung Gate, the Threshing Stone and the Olives.

Old City Tourism Attractions

 

Free Admission:

  1. Teddy Park - The park was established by the Jerusalem Foundation and tells the story of the establishment of modern Jerusalem.  In the center of the park is the spectacular Sylvia Hassenfeld Fountain of Music and Light, environmental sculpture and a visitors’ center that should not be missed.

The show is held 3 times every night at 20:00, 21:00 and 22:00

Sites at the Western Wall

The Chain of Generations Presentation - This site combines glass sculpture and ‘light art’ and allows the visitor to move along the timeline of the generations of the Jewish People up until the present time.

Behind the Scenes - A unique tour that  introduces the visitor to subterranean sites that have been discovered deep underground and have yet to be opened to the general public.

The Journey to Jerusalem - Years of research and production were required to prepare the Journey to Jerusalem for the general public.  The journey allows the visitor to move through time and follow the wanderings of his family throughout the world since the period of the destruction of Jerusalem until the Jews returned to the city in modern times.  A moving interactive experience through time.
